My Sugar Free Year - Day 71

September 23, 2021
Day 71

This morning I am headed to DC by train. I love the train!  I’ll be able to relax, make some calls, get some work done, and hopefully have some spare time to continue reading the Sugar Blues book. Of course, I packed fruit and almonds for the trip and when I arrive will have a late lunch out with my mom and dad who are picking me up from the train.  Such a treat!

My parents are super healthy with their food so staying with them for a few days will not be too challenging. A few years ago, I helped them clean out their pantry and refrigerator of anything offensive such as high sodium soups and salad dressings, crackers with sugar and bad oils, etc. My family knows if I stay with them, they might be subject to a kitchen pantry re-boot.  Actually, this is something I offer as a service if you know anyone who needs some assistance in this area. On October 12 I have a Kitchen Pantry Re-Boot class going on in person at the Montclair Adult School.  Let me know if you are local and are interested and I’ll send you the information to register.

I’m starting a new 1-year diabetes prevention program cohort tonight too. I’ll be Zooming from mom and dad’s house. If you know anyone who has prediabetes, it’s not too late to join this program too. It’s funded by a NJ DOH grant and is no-cost to participants!  Just have them go to the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA website and register.
