Day 2
Thank you so much for the well wishes on this new big (crazy?) adventure. However, not everyone has had a positive reaction. I guess when one does something pretty extreme, one is bound to get pushback. I want this challenge for myself and to see what transpires. A month is not enough. I want something extreme – I’m excited. I mean I’m not getting any younger, or maybe I can and will! I guess I have to have a tough skin and take a bit of judgement by putting myself out there.
You might be thinking, isn’t she depriving herself? I don’t see it that way. I see it as freedom from something that has a hold on me. When I nibble or have more than a glass of wine, I am not in control and don’t feel good. I sometimes feel ashamed.
You might be thinking, shouldn’t everything be in moderation? Well, maybe not. I don’t know. It’s a personal choice. When something is not good for you, or hurts you, why should you have it, even in moderation? However, I always tell my clients if you are doing 80/20, you’re doing super well, meaning, perfectionism is not the goal, and is not sustainable. I’m not looking for perfection here, just looking to do the next big thing in MY journey. I also don’t want anyone feeling bad or “less than” if they are eating sugar.
You might be thinking, but cutting out a food group is not balanced way of eating. But sugar is not a food group. A balanced way of eating for me is eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, healthy fats, nuts and seeds. With everything I have read and studied, I see sugar as a poison to the body. Of course, sugar and carbohydrates are the bodies preferred fuel, but processed sugar can be detrimental, and alcohol doesn’t even get digested, it goes right to the blood stream. We can get plenty of carbohydrate fuel from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Did you know that the US Department of Health and Human Services lists consumption of alcohol as a human carcinogen? Yup, cancer causing.
I don’t know if I imagined this or not, but I feel like my sense of smell is better in just one day. Hmm.
Have a great day everyone.
