Day 8
One week ago, I started this adventure. In this first week my weight has dropped by 5 pounds, but that’s mostly the water weight and bloat. One week down, 51 to go!
I am so fortunate to have a job where I set my own hours. Yesterday I had tennis scheduled the morning. I forgot to add my new one ingredient pea protein powder to my green smoothie for breakfast and as a result had low energy on the court in the heat and sun. I didn’t have any snacks with me and was so grateful to one of the players for giving me a clementine from her bag. It’s a good reminder to bring food with me if I’m going to be out of the house for a while, because it’s really hard to find anything without added sugar when you get hungry or low energy. For that reason, I always keep a small jar of almonds in my car, and always leave the house with a full water bottle. Clementines are now on my shopping list. They are so portable, and can stay in a bag or the car without damage, unlike a banana, another portable fruit.
It’s happening quite consistently that around 3:30 or 4:00 in the afternoon I have a hankering for something sweet. Yesterday I reached for the green smoothie that I didn’t finish for breakfast in the morning, and that really hit the spot. It just had greens, celery, watermelon, and avocado but it tasted so sweet. Generally I’ll grab some protein at this time and it really helps quench any craving, and keeps me satisfied until dinner time.
Dinner was salmon on a cedar plank on the grill (goes well with a chilled white wine – not today), peppers and onions, and local corn on the cob – sweetness of summer!
